Don Francisco

Sebastian:

It was constructed in November 1917 and was originally owned by Don Victor and his wife Dona Eugenia L. Sebastian, parents of Don Francisco Sebastian. Don Francisco Sebastian served as the very first alcalde (mayor) in the town of Hagonoy. During his occupation, municipyo (municipal hall) of Hagonoy was built. He sold all his land properties which led to his poverty, in order to build the municipyo and develop Hagonoy. In recognition to his accomplishments and contribution to the town of Hagonoy, a street was named after him.

According to Sebastian family, it served as a home for Don Francisco Sebastian whom a Katipunan hero and had been a father to the town of Hagonoy. It was built during the Spanish period. As cited by Don Francisco’s grandson, Manuel, ninety (90) years old, three (3) presidents of the Philippines have sighted the mansion even Rizal himself. It also became a secret hideout for katipuneros. Here is where Kapitan Tiago with Isidro Torres and Don Francisco Sebastian (treasurer and secretary of Katipunan) in Bulacan executed a confidential meeting.
